Las bases del concurso planteaban 16 ámbitos de intervención, entendidos como ejes de relación entre la ciudad y la Serra de Collserola. Tras una primera fase de selección curricular, el equipo GDE BCN fue asignado al estudio de la Porta 15 Ciutat Meridiana, junto a otros 7 equipos. GCMP se incorporó en la fase proyectiva del concurso.
The competition | The competition raised 16 Intervention Areas, conceived as corridors between the city (Barcelona) and the Collserola Range. After an initial administrative screening, GDE-BCN team was assigned to study of Porta 15-Ciutat Meridiana, together with 7 other teams. GCMP joined them during the projective phase.

La puerta de Ciutat Meridiana se sitúa en el extremo norte de Barcelona, junto al término municipal de Moncada i Reixac. El ámbito de la puerta envuelve el barrio de Ciutat Meridiana y relaciona Collserola -pasando por encima del haz de autopistas- con la llanura de Vallbona y el río Besòs.
Gate #15 Ciutat Meridiana | The ‘porta’ (gate) of Ciutat Meridiana is located in the far north of Barcelona, near the municipality of Moncada i Reixac. The ‘porta’ (gate) surrounds Ciutat Meridiana and connects Collserola-passing over the driving beam- with Vallbona plain and river Besòs.

GDE propone una intervención basada en el saneamiento del barrio de Ciutat Meridiana, replanteando la relación entre el espacio del hombre y el entorno del Parc de Collserola. El agua se convertirá en el elemento que cualifique esta nueva relación, pues cuando sigue su camino genera vida, pero cuando está estancada o mal canalizada puede llegar a perjudicar a lo que le rodea. El estado del barrio Ciutat Meridiana es el de un ente vivo enfermo de esclerosis. Para sanearlo es necesario un by-pass apoyado en tres acciones: 1) la consolidación del nuevo frente del Parc a partir de los pórticos marcados por los acueductos y sustituyendo las viviendas insalubres; 2) el desbloqueo del camino del auga hacia el rio Besós, y 3) la conexión con un ecobarrio en Vallbona, destino natural de este ciclo.
Camí de l’Aigua [ Water moves on ] |The proposal focuses on the renewal of the District of Ciutat Meridiana, redefining the relationship between the space of humans and the surroundings of Parc de Collserola. Water become the element that will qualify this new relationship, because when water follows its path water generates life, but when water is stagnant or misdirected, the harm can reach around it. As GDE pointed out, the state of Ciutat Meridiana is that of a living entity sick of sclerosis. To sanitize it we conceived a bypass supported on three measures: 1) the consolidation of the new front of the Parc marked by the aqueducts and the replacement of unhealthy housing, 2) the release of water paths towards river Besòs, and 3) the connection with an eco-neighborhood in Vallbona, the natural destination for this cycle.

Considerando el paisaje como marco general de las relaciones anteriormente indicadas, y teniendo en cuenta el planteamiento estratégico del concurso se han considerado unos ‘puntos de partida’. Estos puntos resuelven un estado básico, articulando la propuesta en tres ámbitos: natural, productivo y urbano. En ellos la restauración del medio, la permacultura y el replanteamiento de la función del verde urbano se combinarían en un estado resiliente, un estado evolucionado, en adaptación continua, ampliando la diversidad ambiental y hortícola. Este estado deseado sería difícilmente imaginable sin una respuesta autogestionaria del barrio de Ciutat Meridiana.
Landscape | Considering Landscape as a frame for the relationship afore mentioned, and taking into account the strategic approach required in the solution, we considered some ‘starting points’. These points solve a basic state, articulating the proposal in three areas: natural, productive and urban. Environmental restoration, permaculture and the rethinking of the role of urban green will combine in a resilient state, evolved and self-adaptative, increasing environmental and horticultural diversity. This desired state would be hardly imaginable without a self-managed response of Ciutat Meridiana.
